Probably a lot of people are intrigued about the mysterious “Bermuda Triangle.” Some might think it really is a cursed territory, for cynics, just a first-rate urban legend. Whatever it is, there’s no doubt that it did have a mystical past. Almost all air and sea travelers who embarked into this region (those who survived) can justify the unusual events that transpired in the “Devil’s Triangle.”
The Bermuda Triangle denotes a region in the Western part of the Atlantic. Over the past years, more than a handful of water vessels, as well as aircrafts were rumored to mysteriously vanish in this area without leaving a trace. The popular speculation about this region is it has some kind of extraterrestrial, paranormal, or magical power.
The Bermuda Triangle (also known as the Devil’s Triangle) goes beyond 50,000 sq. miles of ocean (Southeastern tip of Florida). During the time when Christopher Columbus sailed through the area on his very first expedition to the New World, he noticed that a great ball of fire (perhaps a meteor) crashed into the sea. After a few weeks, a peculiar light appeared within the distance–just right where the incident took place. He also noted some inconsistent compass readings. His conclusion was it is probably because during that time, a sliver of the Bermuda Triangle was one of the few spots where magnetic north and true north lined up.
The Baffling Phenomena
One of the unexplained mysteries was when the aircraft pilots of a squadron of US Navy bombers suddenly became disoriented whilst traveling over the area, and the planes were never seen again. Even in a good weather and without the radioing distress communications, other planes and boats have mysteriously vanished as well. Due to this, a myriad of extravagant hypotheses have been envisioned regarding the Bermuda Triangle– the sudden disappearances transpire quite often there than in other well-traveled regions. As a matter of fact, people navigate in these locations daily without facing any mishaps.
The Flight 19
Regarded as one of the most famous disappearances is the Flight 19. On 1945, 5th of December, five US Avenger bombers mysteriously disappeared while being on a routine training mission. The said flight was led by Lt. Charles Taylor, who attempted to keep in touch by using the radio until they completely disappeared. Moreover, the rescue team that was sent there never made it back either. 6 air crafts and 27 men disappeared without a trace. This case had never been resolved up to now. The question still remains: “Did Flight 19 merely crash into the Atlantic, or something else materialized? And what happened to the rescue plane?”
Other Strange Mysteries
It is said that more than 20 planes and 50 ships have mysteriously vanished in the Bermuda Triangle during the last century. Within this region, the innermost point of the Atlantic ocean lies. Perhaps this could be an explanation why some aircrafts and naval ships were never seen again. Others have a wilder imagination, thinking that the Devil’s Triangle is full of UFO activities. Some even believe that the aliens abducted those missing vessels. Some say the area is filled with numerous vortexes (a swirl of water that sucks in everything near it) that transports the missing ships and planes into another place and time. However, the researchers always try to give logical explanations about the disappearances such as bad weather conditions.
All incidents that materialized in the Devil’s triangle were all blamed as being linked with the supernatural.
Nonetheless, scientists and researchers have various theories in regards with the Bermuda Triangle phenomena. One of them is the study made by a research librarian, Larry Kusche from Arizona State University. He mentioned that the claims of sudden disappearances might either be fabricated or exaggerated– most of it are very inaccurate. For instance, it was once reported that an ore carrier disappeared in this region. However, the truth is it got lost in the Pacific Ocean.
For now, the Devil’s Triangle will be the most prominent among the mysteries made by the human mind.
